Our Father.

Our Father.

Who art in Heaven, right?

Only in my case, I didn’t really “believe” that, considering the countless amount of times He has shown up and shown out in my life, like the list is endless.

Today is my birthday* & whilst I’m thankful to Him for granting me another year, I’m also annoyed with Him at how it’s begun.

You see, yesterday became the day that my life had changed forever. I had everything planned – finish work early, go buy my braids, tidy my flat, actually make a start on my braids so I could do up a small photoshoot in my newly decorated room so I could post on the gram.

But that didn’t happen. My computer decided it would be the day to run slow and as I type this, I’m sure the system I was using is still processing those 148 applications 🙃. It was nearly 10pm and I was on the phone to my friend, Vanessa when a call came through that I really wasn’t expecting at all.

It was from my Dad.

I was hesitant to answer at 1st, but if the phonecall I had with my Pastor earlier on in the day was anything to go by, I told Vanessa I’ll call her back & I picked up his.

“Hello Makayla”, he said. “Hi.” I responded.

It was from my Dad.

“I’m here.” He said. “At my parents house. Let’s meet.”

Now, the series of events that followed are a blur, plus there are some parts that I DO remember that have only been shared with my nearest and dearest, but what I WILL DO is take you back down memory lane into how we got to this point.

Buckle up kids, you’re in for a long ride.

Our understanding of God our Father may be flawed, but when we look to Jesus, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can more fully know God as our good Father.
